One of my favorite ways to cool off on a hot summer day is with a yummy cocktail! Sangria is one of my favorite little indulgences and is the perfect concoction to make for a BBQ or girls night (or afternoon) in! It’s super easy to mix up a big pitcher and get the party going!
I’m sharing one of my favorite recipes for a Summer Sangria! This is one that I threw together with ingredients I already had and it turned out so delicious! That’s the awesome thing about sangria, you can make it so many ways with so many different ingredients. It’s fun fun to try new ones with any cheaper bottles of wine you have laying around the house.
I made this one with a bottle of Two Buck Chuck Merlot I had laying around, which actually costs $3 now but Three Buck Chuck just doesn’t have the same ring to it. Merlot is a great option for sangria because it tends to be more on the fruity side so the flavors will blend together nicely. I’m adding strawberry as my fruit and a little lemonade because I love those flavors together. Since all of those are more on the sweet side, I decided to use ginger ale to cut down on some of that sweetness. I had some cans of the ginger ale with lemonade so I used that which made things super easy! Then I finished it off with some brandy because no sangria is complete without a little hard liquor.
Alex’s Summer Sangria Recipe
1 bottle of red wine
1 can of ginger ale and lemonade
1/2 cup of brandy
1 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen)
2 spoonfuls of sugar
garnish with lemon slices
Now, who’s ready for a party?!
